WCBDO, with the support of UNICEF, trained 300 adolescents including 260 girls and 60 boys in Khas Urozgan and Chora districts of Urozgan province.

From 2020 to 2022, WCBDO facilitated their introduction to local schools and assisted with their enrollment in the formal education system in Uruzgan with funding from UNICEF. WCBDO followed Community-Based Education principles. WCBDO established a local advocacy committee in Uruzgan, which actively advocated for youth education upon completion.

It is estimated that approximately 3.7 million children in Afghanistan are out of school, with a significant portion being adolescent girls. Economic reasons are a primary factor, as many families cannot afford the costs associated with education, such as school supplies, transportation, and opportunity costs of not working.

Youth education in Uruzgan is of paramount importance. Education provides the foundation for a brighter future, equipping young people with essential knowledge and skills to contribute positively to their communities. By focusing on youth education, WCBDO aims to break the cycle of poverty, foster social stability, and empower the next generation to become leaders and change-makers in their society.
