The program “A Better Future for Women and Children” was successfully implemented from December 19, 2019, to March 9, 2020, in District 16 of Kabul city, with the cooperation of different segments of society. The primary objective of this program was to raise public awareness regarding the importance of women’s and children’s education and to mobilize family support towards building a brighter future for the younger generation.
To achieve this goal, the Women’s Capacity Building and Development Organization facilitated inclusive and participatory dialogues with the active involvement of community leaders, neighborhood representatives, social activists, and widows. Through this process, more than 200 women and 100 men from different areas of District 16 took part in training sessions, open discussions, and awareness campaigns.
These sessions focused on the significance of education, the vital role of families in supporting learning, and the shared responsibility of both men and women in this cause.
The outcomes of this program were remarkable: community awareness levels significantly improved, women took on a more active role in advocating for their children’s right to education, and men stood alongside women in supporting education. This joint collaboration strengthened social solidarity and created a successful model for other regions to replicate.
The experiences gained demonstrated that the presence of local leaders, the simultaneous engagement of both women and men, and the use of interactive methods have the greatest impact on the success of such initiatives. Furthermore, it became clear that widows and vulnerable families when supported can become a powerful force in promoting education within their communities.
